About Me
I have been involved with horses for most of my entire life, having been lucky enough to have been born into a family which enjoyed the company of horses. My grandparents had a 40 acre farm outside of Pittsburgh, so I was always fortunate enough to have horses in my life. I was the only one in my family who took horses and riding to a competitive and serious level!
As a teen, I rode my horse, Sir Tally in the jumper division. When he was retired, I discovered off the track Thoroughbreds (OTTBs) and began a relationship with these glorious horses, retraining them as hunters and jumpers. As an adult, I showed hunters and even adult equitation. Then, my daughters became involved in the United States Pony Club and we became converts, and crossed over to the dark side of eventing!! What a blast! FOr the past several years, I have been the groom for my daughters at local and recognized events, but I look forward to eventing my coming 4 year old PMU Draftx, Tucker, later this season. My youngest daughter, Amanda, competes her OTTB, Stormchaser, in the beginner novice division, and Jen, my oldest, competes her TB mare, Impulsive in the training division, with plans to move up to preliminary this season...yikes!
As for experience with horses? Well, besides the afore mentioned, I have pretty much always been involved with the care of my horses, usually going the partial board route. I have always wanted to be 100% involved in the well being of my horses. I have managed a stable and worked in a few others. Currently, I lease a farm in Chuluota. I have 4 horses of my own and I have a boarder as well. I am responsible for the entire upkeep of the farm, and make the daily trek to the barn from my home in Winter Park 2 and sometimes 3 times a day. Until we finally purchase our own farm, this has been the next best solution for me!
I worked for a local veterinarian for 4 and a half years as a vet tech, so I can provide rehabilitation services.
And because of our involvement with the USPC, my horse management skills are top notch...something they always have been. I just didn't realize that the USPC and I were on the same page until my daughters joined.
